I have Irish blood. Standing at the bottom of that staircase, looking up, I couldn't stop thinking about it — the possibility that someone who shares my family name, Sullivan, came through here. Came up these steps. Carrying everything they owned, not knowing what was on the other side.
The history was overwhelming. I didn't try to process it. I just raised the camera.
